Supported Employment That Leads to Independence

We are dedicated to adults with disabilities in Oregon who face employment challenges, empowering them to build sustainable careers and confident, independent lives.

Creating Pathways to Meaningful Work

Pacific Opportunities specializes in supported employment, job coaching, career exploration, work assessments and individualized employment planning for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our approach centers on competitive, integrated employment while providing individualized support that helps clients develop confidence, workplace skills, independence and long-term career stability.

The Three Steps of Employment

Supported Employment

3rd Step

Supported Employment Maintenance

True organizational excellence is achieved when strategic vision aligns with community impact. At Pacific Opportunities, we are focused on building sustainable pathways that empower individuals and strengthen local businesses from the ground up.

How We Work

We provide an extensive support system that bridges the gap between individuals with disabilities and employers through professional job coaching and ongoing assistance, ensuring sustainable employment success for both parties.

Please note: We are a state-contracted vocational rehabilitation provider, not a temporary staffing agency. We do not work directly with employers or individuals seeking employment outside of our formal state contracts.

Pre-Employment

Before entering the active job market, clients build a targeted path forward by mapping out exactly what workplace success looks like. Managed through local Vocational Rehabilitation offices, this foundational stage focuses on discovery and preparation through individualized Career Exploration and Community-Based Work Assessments. Clients pinpoint their unique vocational goals, uncover professional interests and complete critical readiness steps, such as résumé building and mock interviews.

Supported Employment

Transitioning from preparation to active placement, this step leverages an extensive network of local business partnerships across retail, grocery, hospitality and customer service sectors. Using data collected during initial assessments, job development specialists match each candidate’s strengths with community-integrated roles. Once a placement is made, dedicated, one-on-one job coaches provide hands-on, on-site task training to guide the employee from onboarding to workplace stability.

Supported Employment Maintenance

Focusing on long-term career stability rather than short-term placement, this final phase adapts entirely to the client’s continuous needs. Grounded in the evidence-based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, coaches provide regular check-ins and performance maintenance to build enduring workplace confidence. While many clients maintain supportive relationships with staff for years, services are designed to gradually reduce in frequency and phase out completely once full independence is achieved.
