Our approach to serving clients centers on individual choice. The people we support help shape the services they receive, and we focus on maintaining respect for each person’s goals and preferences while also encouraging meaningful participation in a plan for securing and maintaining employment that enhances their dignity and confidence. Our team has developed strong methodology and a network of employer connections over our years in operation to help find and place clients in jobs they truly love, but we understand that our success always depends on our clients’ successes.
Listening
Our best support is kicked off by listening first, so that we’re able to make decisions that positively impact change for our clients. We know that our services should always reflect what matters most to the individual from both a detailed and big-picture view, and it’s our job to find solutions that incorporate the goals, dreams, needs and potential of each person we serve. That means asking the right questions and being open to unexpected answers that might shift our initial views.
Support Network
We welcome involvement from clients’ families, guardians, advocates and other people chosen by the client that are consistent with preferences, privacy and legal authority, we also understand that it’s ultimately the client we are serving. Their input is very important for our team to accurately assess our own progress and their own success. This means we schedule regular check-ins and hear from our client as well as their chosen network, taking in feedback carefully.
Information and Autonomy
Our clients need to receive the right kind of information in order to understand their opportunities. They also need to be informed to make proper decisions about the services offered to them. Our clients, like all of us, have the right to pursue meaningful lives through employment (as well as through other paths like education, relationships, recreation and community involvement). It’s up to us at Pacific Opportunities to support this pursuit by respecting client choice and establishing thoughtful person-centered planning at every step of the way.
